How To Stay In Shape When Traveling?
A lot of people are on the go all the time.
They work in different states, countries, or even continents and travel for work.
And while this lifestyle is not for everyone, it does have its perks.
But there are also some drawbacks to it that you should be aware of if you want to stay healthy and fit while traveling.
One major issue with traveling is that you often end up eating out a lot more than you would if you were home.
So while this might seem like a good idea at first, it can actually be really bad for your diet and your health in general.
The key here is to make sure that you do your research before going to a restaurant so that you know what kind of food they serve there and what their menu looks like.
Below Are Some Tips To Help You Stay In Shape While Traveling:
- Keep Hydrated
- Sleep On A Schedule
- Stick To Your Diet
- Exercise 3-4 Xs Each Week
- Track Your Calories
You might also want to consider fitness apps some are completely free while others have upgraded memberships for a fee.
And if possible you can plan out your meals so it’s easier to stay on track with your diet while traveling.
Best Gym For Travelers To Consider
Now the best gym for travelers.
I’ve been to most of the gyms on this list and can give you my experience as a gym member and traveler.
Below Are Best Gym For Travelers:
#1. 24 Hour Fitness
I’ve been a member of 24 Hour Fitness for many years I was even a personal trainer there years ago.
With that being said 24 Hour Fitness has hundreds of fitness clubs throughout the United States.
However, I’ve found that there are more locations on the west coast than on the east coast.
Overall the gyms are clean and usually, I’m able to get on the equipment I want to use.
Try to avoid going during lunch hours and right after work to avoid the crowds.
Anytime between 7 AM – 10 AM if you plan to exercise in the Morning or between 6:30 PM – 9 PM if you prefer exercising in the evening.
You can look on their website and find out where their gyms are located.
Then you can plan your hotel stay appropriately.
#2. Planet Fitness
Probably one of the cheapest gym memberships I’ve ever had is with Planet Fitness.
With a small $10 monthly gym price and small membership fee you really can’t complain about the cost.
However, there are plenty of other things to complain about such as the “LUNK ALARM”.
If you aren’t familiar with the lunk alarm you can watch the video below:
Yikes!
Anyway if you just want to get in some cardio and some lightweight exercises Planet Fitness will work fine.
It’s by far not my favorite gym but when you’re traveling it’s not too difficult to find one nearby.
Just about any time of the day that I’ve been to Planet Fitness has been ok meaning it’s usually not overcrowded so you can get on the equipment with ease.
Overall a chill gym as long as you don’t get too loud and set off the alarm.
You’ve been warned…
#3. Equinox
The final gym on this list is Equinox currently they have 106 gyms and a $0 initiation fee.
These gyms are nice and offer personal training, and a spa, and even have their own shop.
I don’t know as much about Equinox as I do about the previous two gyms but if you are searching for another option that allows you to exercise while you travel this gym should be one of your considerations.
Best gym for travelers should have many locations available, be open when you need to be, and help you stay in shape.
All of these gyms offer you that and all have their pros and cons.
Summing Up Best Gym For Travelers
Best gym for travelers can be summed up by letting you know which one is my favorite and how you can choose the best gym for yourself that can help you exercise when you travel.
In my experience, I’ve always had an easy time finding a gym to workout at with my 24 Hour Fitness Membership.
And that’s also why it’s my number one pick for travelers that are looking for a gym.
That being said Planet Fitness is a good option if you are looking for a cheap gym membership.
Even if you don’t use your membership there very often it’s so cheap you really aren’t losing out.
And you’ll have a gym to go to when you travel.
Equinox is the nicest gym on this list and the most expensive too.
They have over 100 gyms so it’s likely they will have a location for you on your next adventure.
So I hope you have narrowed down your decision on finding a gym for your travels.
